How we look after your information
Last updated 11 September 2026
The short version
- We only collect what we need to reply to you and to teach your child.
- We never sell your information or use it for marketing.
- Lessons are not recorded.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold at any time by emailing matzztuition@gmail.com.
1. Who we are
MATZZ Tuition is an online tuition service run by its five founders: Mahir Muktadir, Aadil Muktadir, Taybah Islam, Zaida Islam and Zainab Islam.
We are not yet a registered company. Until we are, the five founders are jointly responsible for the personal information described in this notice. In data protection law, that makes us the "data controller".
You can contact us about anything in this notice at matzztuition@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
When you send an enquiry
Through the form on our website we collect:
- your name and email address
- your phone number, if you choose to give it
- your child's year group and the subjects they need help with
- anything you write in the message box
When your child has lessons with us
- your child's name, year group, exam board and subjects
- the results of the short diagnostic in the free first lesson
- lesson notes and the progress feedback we share with you
- lesson times and scheduling details
- payment records, such as the amount and date paid. We do not store card details.
Lessons are not recorded.
Information you choose to tell us
You might tell us about your child's health or any special educational needs, so that we can adapt how we teach. This is more sensitive information, so we only record it with your agreement, only use it to tailor lessons, and delete it if you ask.
When you contact us another way
If you email us or message us on Instagram, TikTok or Facebook, we will have your message and the address or profile you sent it from.
3. Why we use it
Data protection law requires us to have a lawful reason for each use of your information. Ours are:
| What we do | Our lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Reply to your enquiry and arrange the free consultation and first lesson | Taking steps you have asked for before agreeing tuition (contract) |
| Plan and teach lessons, and share feedback with you | Carrying out our agreement with you (contract) |
| Use health or special educational needs information to adapt lessons | Your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Keep payment records | Legal obligation (tax law) |
| Act on a safeguarding concern about a child | Legal obligation, or protecting someone's vital interests |
We will not send you marketing. We only contact you about your enquiry and your child's tuition.
5. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't lead to lessons: 12 months, so we have the context if you come back to us, for example ahead of the next exam season. Then we delete them.
- Lesson notes, diagnostic results and feedback: while your child has lessons with us, and for 12 months after their last lesson. Then we delete them.
- Payment records: 6 years, because tax law requires it.
- Emails and messages: deleted along with the records they relate to.
You can ask us to delete your information sooner. See your rights.
6. Keeping it safe
We keep records in password-protected accounts secured with two-step verification, and only the founders can access them. We do not record lessons, and we only collect information we actually need.
7. Children's information
Our enquiry form is for parents and guardians. If you are under 16 and would like tuition, please ask a parent or guardian to contact us for you.
We only collect the information about a child that we need to teach them. As a parent or guardian you can ask to see what we hold about your child. Depending on their age and understanding, a child may also be able to use the rights below themselves.
9. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you or your child
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete
- ask us to delete your information
- ask us to limit how we use it, or object to how we use it
- ask for your information in a format you can take elsewhere
- withdraw your consent where we rely on it, such as for health or special educational needs information
To use any of these rights, email matzztuition@gmail.com. It's free, and we will reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
10. Changes to this notice
